General Optical Council (GOC)
The General Optical Council aims to promote high standards of education, conduct and performance amongst opticians. The GOC are one of 13 organisations which make up health and social care regulators. The GOC are the regulator for the optical profession in the UK. They register optometrists, dispensing opticians, student opticians and optical businesses.
The Eye Laser Association (ELA)
The Eye Laser Association was formed by a group of Laser Eye Clinics to promote a code of best practice within the industry. Every clinic which becomes a member agrees to abide by the code which has been outlined and is in place to ensure that all patients are treated with both fairness and honesty.
Royal College of Ophthalmologists (ROC)
The Royal College of Ophthalmologists champions excellence in the practice of Ophthalmology for the benefit of patients and the public. The ROC set examinations and standards of practice following qualification for eye surgeons.
General Medical Council (GMC)
The General Medical Council regulates doctors and ensures good medical practice. The GMC ensure that doctors follow a high standard of practice throughout their careers, they deal with patient safety by dealing with any concerns raised by patients, and they set the standards for all students who are training to become the doctors of the future.
